Oil filter for high-mileage engine

My 220k km BMW 320d is due for oil change. Engine burns a bit of oil, runs fine otherwise. Want a filter that handles higher contaminants well without restricting flow. Any recommendations for durable ones on older engines?

High-mileage engines often have more blow-by and sludge, so a filter with larger media area and strong pleating helps catch more without clogging early. Avoid super-cheap ones that might bypass too soon. I did my E90 recently and went for a robust aftermarket filter. This category https://elartcom.eu/categories/oil-filters-23 had several BMW-compatible options, some with extra filtration layers or better gaskets. Picked one with a silicone anti-drainback valve (holds oil better on cold starts) and metal core. Engine feels a bit smoother, no unusual consumption spike after. Important on older cars to keep filtration good to slow wear. Browse their page if your model matches- plenty of choices with detailed fitment info.
